Hepatic extraction fraction. A 53-year old female patient who underwent liver transplantation (LTx) due to hepatitis C virus cirrhosis (case 2 in Table 4). Cyclosporin A was converted to tacrolimus treatment due to peripheral neuropathy 5 months after LTx. (a) Calculation of hepatic extraction fraction (HEF) in the same patient at 3 months imaging. HEF is calculated by the ratio of the initial hepatocyte uptake divided by the peak vascular uptake (42%). (b) Calculation of HEF in the same patient 1 year after LTx. HEF increased from 42% to 100%.
