Immunohistochemical staining on muscle biopsy samples taken at day 7 after FAO. Lectin stained sections below show more staining for lectin (brown chromogen) for the non-diabetic pig compared to the diabetic pig (magnification × 200). The bar graph on the right shows mean ± SD for quantification of the lectin stained capillaries for all biopsy specimens in the two groups of pigs. The non-diabetic pigs had significantly higher lectin staining. The second set of sections shows greater staining for VEGFA (brown chromogen) in the non-diabetic compared to diabetic pig
