Effects of cryopreservation on monocyte 99mTc-HMPAO labelling and functionality. Freshly isolated and cryopreserved monocytes were radiolabelled with 150 MBq 99mTc-HMPAO and analysed a for the efficiency of labelling, b for their survival using the MTS viability at 0 and 24 h after labelling and c for their migratory responses towards VEGF-A (10 ng/ml) and MCP-1 (10 ng/ml) in a modified Boyden chamber chemotaxis assay (n = 12). Statistics: Kruskal-Wallis test with Dunn’s post test, or the Mann-Whitney test was performed, p value: *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001
