The presence of some tumours, but not all, affected plasma thymidine levels. Plasma thymidine levels are shown for five hosts, with or without tumours. PC mice were hosts for the K8484 tumour and were the non-tumour-bearing cage mates of mice that develop KPC tumours; PC mice lack the KRAS mutation present in the KPC mice and hence do not develop tumours. Columns are fill-coded to indicate the presence or absence of a tumour. Error bars show ± SD; numbers of animals are indicated on columns; the asterisk (*) indicates significance (p ≤ 0.05)
