Uptake of 68 Ga-radioactivity and the degree of inflammation in atherosclerotic plaques. Uptake of 68Ga-radioactivity in atherosclerotic plaques of LDLR-/-ApoB100/100 mice in comparison to the degree of inflammation assessed on the basis of Mac-3 immunohistochemistry. None, no macrophages; Mild, occasional macrophages; Moderate, occasional and some groups of macrophages; Severe, abundant infiltration of macrophages. The 68Ga-radioactivity uptake results are expressed as PSL/mm2(mean ± SD), normalized against internal control tissue (muscle).
